Pol-Ed 'A Positive Force in Education'

Pol-Ed is a PSHE and Citizenship educational programme that provides schools with free lessons, assemblies and resources covering a range of topic areas.

All Pol-Ed content focuses on subjects where the police have recognised expertise and credibility and is organised under four key themes:

  1. Relationships
  2. Keeping Safe
  3. Understanding the Law
  4. Well-being

Pol-Ed lessons and assemblies have been developed by PSHE specialists, with content informed by subject matter experts from West Yorkshire Police and partner police forces. The programme is designed to maximise both impact and ease of use for schools.

The resources support a broad range of the PSHE Association's Programme of Study and address priority topics including sexual violence and harassment, child-on-child abuse, and young people's perceptions of the police.

Secondary school lessons are available in flexible 20/40/60-minute formats, allowing schools to adapt delivery to suit different curriculum approaches. A variety of assessment opportunities are also included, enabling students to demonstrate their learning and progress. The Pol-Ed curriculum focuses on developing values, skills and attributes, as well as knowledge.

The Pol-Ed website provides straightforward access for all teaching staff and includes a reporting function that allows schools to monitor which lessons have been delivered.

Pol-Ed's overarching aim is to support schools in keeping children safe while working together to be a positive force in education.
