Currently, the CSCP provide training courses free of charge to 'NOT FOR PROFIT' organisations and those organisations who work directly children and young people within Cumberland.
CSCP Safeguarding Week 2026
The CSCP is delighted to announce that we are holding a Safeguarding Week from 9 - 13 March 2026.
Safeguarding Week is a dedicated time to raise awareness, refresh knowledge and strengthen our collective responsibility to protect children and young people in Cumberland.
Further Awareness of the Safeguarding Environment
Face to face “Further Awareness of the Safeguarding Environment” Training, which was formally known as Level 2 Safeguarding Training.
This new training package bridges the gap between the online, Level 2 Safeguarding Training delivered via the CSCP’s Learning Management System, and the “Understanding the Levels of Need” (Level 3 Safeguarding Training) for Designated Safeguarding Leads.
Understanding the Levels of Need (formerly known as Safeguarding Level 3)
This course is specifically for Designated Safeguarding Leads and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads only.
Understanding the Levels of Need (formerly known as Safeguarding Level 3), is a multi-agency training course aimed to safeguard, protect and promote the welfare of children.

Domestic Abuse
The CSCP deliver a range of Domestic Abuse (DA) training.
This includes:
- Domestic Abuse Awareness Learning Sessions
- 'Responding Well' to Domestic Abuse (DA) Training (virtual)
- 'Responding Well' to Domestic Abuse (DA) specifically for DSL/DDSL's (in person)
- Domestic Abuse Risk Assessment and Combined Homicide Timeline Training

How to Support Children & Families through Early Help - Signs of Wellbeing
To increase knowledge and enable practitioners to work more effectively with children, young people and their families using Early Help and identify needs early to give all children the opportunity to thrive and succeed.

Emotional Well-being and Mental Health
The CSCP are able to signpost professionals to a range of resources and training to support children with their emotional wellbeing and mental health.
This includes:
- Whole System Workforce Development Offer Support
- Support for Suicide and Self-Harm
Gaming and Gambling Harm Training
The CSCP are delighted to be working with YGAM to offer a full programme of fully funded, CPD Certified, Gaming and Gambling Harm Prevention Workshops for foster carers, education professionals, youth workers, social care practitioners, and healthcare professionals.
Impact Chronology
The CSCP are delivering training on Impact Chronology. The following session will be a face to face workshop and the aim of the session is to enable practitioners to develop skills in using Impact Chronologies.
Learning from Practice - Thematic Training Event
Cumberland and Westmorland and Furness Partnerships are delivering two thematic learning events where the sessions will explore learning from both Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews and Local Learning Reviews in Cumbria.
Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)
Are you aware of your responsibilities in informing the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) of all allegations against adults who work with children The CSCP will be delivering bitesize sessions.
Online Safety
The CSCP deliver virtual briefing sessions on Multi-Agency Online Safety Training, advice for Parents and Teachers. An informative and practical webinar designed for teachers and parents who want to better understand how to keep children safe in today's digital world.
Parental Substance Misuse
Recovery Steps Cumbria are providing Parental Substance Misuse Training, this will explore the impact of substance misuse on adults and children.
Professional Curiosity
The CSCP are able to signpost professionals to a range of resources to support and understand what professional curiosity is.
Reflective Supervision in Education Settings
The aim of this course is to understand the importance and benefits of regular supervision.
